BlackRock and MicroStrategy are both trying to be the first to own 1 million Bitcoin (BTC), and each already holds over 500,000 BTC.

  • MicroStrategy owns 553,555 BTC, led by its CEO Michael Saylor, a strong Bitcoin supporter. The company has been buying Bitcoin since 2020 and recently added over 15,000 BTC worth $1.42 billion. Saylor’s strategy includes buying BTC regularly, even during market downturns, using company stock and debt offerings.

  • BlackRock, through its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), now holds 573,869 BTC, slightly more than MicroStrategy. Its Bitcoin ETF has grown fast, gaining over $1 billion in one day. Strong investor interest and clear regulations have helped its fast growth.

While MicroStrategy is driven by Saylor’s belief in Bitcoin, BlackRock’s success depends on investor demand. If many investors pull out, BlackRock might sell BTC.

Conclusion: Both companies are halfway to 1 million BTC, but it’s still unclear who will win the race. MicroStrategy has steady buying power and strong leadership, while BlackRock has fast ETF growth and big investor interest.
